Will you join me in this dance…?
Will you join me in this dance, this dance of misery
Cradled in imposs… impossibility?
Swooning, I am swept away
Swept off my feet, with step by step by step
We take the lead as drop by drop, we start… to bleed
Will you lend yourself to beauty that will horrify?
Let me hide within your black, the still inside your eyes
Deafened, caught within a cry
So sensual, as step by step by step, I seperate
As breath to breath, as I… suffocate
So who will follow? Who is the lead?
I know I’ll leave a stain, because I bleed
As we dance, we all dance
We all… have no chance in this horrid romance
(Oh, we dance in misery)
And we dance on, and we dance on
(Oh, we dance in misery)
All lost in the arms of our misery, oh
(Oh, we dance in misery)
And we dance on, and we dance on
Swept off our feet by misery, we’re swept into the shadows
Swept off our feet by misery, we’re swept into the shadows

the first band i ever loved was afi, and i loved them viciously. they were my whole world, and they opened me up to everything i listen to now. without a doubt, they are still a huge deal to me, even if i don’t really “get” them anymore. crash love or whatever it’s called is really bad. but that’s not the point.
i was 13 when i discovered them, and i came in with sing the sorrow. i had the red cover (ref: AFI-Sing-The-Sorrow—497144.jpg). but if you had the SILVER cover, it was a big deal. it was really hard to find and everyone was always searching for one. even when afi faded for me, i still tried to find one without luck.
but a couple of weekends ago my boyfriend and i went to my local FYE and i found a silver copy. but i didn’t really feel like spending money on something i really already had. but today i stopped in the same shopping center for something else and decided if it was still there, i had to get it, and it was. i’m now revisiting age 13. it rules. after some googling, this is apparently either a first pressing or uk version. awesome.

We held hands on the last night on earth. Our mouths filled with dust, we kissed in the fields and under trees, screaming like dogs, bleeding dark into the leaves. It was empty on the edge of town, but we knew everyone floated along the bottom of the river. So we walked through the waste, where the road curved into the sea and the shattered seasons lay, and the bitter smell of burning was on you like a disease. In our cancer of passion, you said, “Death is a midnight runner.”
The sky had come crashing down like the news of an intimate suicide. We picked up the shards and formed them into shapes of stars that wore like an antique wedding dress. The echoes of the past broke the hearts of the unborn as the ferris wheel silently slowed to a stop. The few insects skittered away in hopes of a better pastime. I kissed you at the apex of the maelstrom and asked if you would accompany me in a quick fall, but you made me realize that my ticket wasn’t good for two. I rode alone.
You said, “The cinders are falling like snow.” There is poetry in despair and we sang with unrivaled beauty bitter elegies of savagery and eloquence, of blue and grey. Strange, we ran down desperate streets and carved our names into the flesh of the city. The sun has stagnated somewhere beyond the rim of the horizon, and the darkness is a mystery of curves and lines. Still, we lay under the emptiness and drifted slowly outwards, and somewhere in the wilderness we found salvation, scratched into the earth like a message.
The Spoken Word

Artist: AFI
Album: Sing the Sorrow
Song: Bleed BlackOh
I am exploring the inside, I find it desolate
I do implore these confines, now, as they penetrate, “recreate me”
I’m hovering throughout time, I crumble in these days
I crumble, I cannot, I cannot find reflection in these days
(If you listen) Listen, listen
(Listen close) Beat by beat
(You can hear when the heart stops) I saved the pieces
(When it broke) And ground them all to dust
I am destroyed by the inside, I disassociate
I hope to destroy the outside, it will alleviate and elevate me
Like water flowing into lungs, I’m flowing through these days
Like morphine cuts through, through dead end veins, I’m numbing in these days
So…
(If you listen) Listen, listen
(Listen close) Beat by beat
(You can hear when the heart stops) I saved the pieces
(When it broke) And ground them all to dust
I know what died that night, it can never be brought back to life
Once again, I know
[x2]
I know I died that night and I’ll never be brought back to life
Once again, I know
[x2]
(If you listen) Listen, listen
(Listen close) Beat by beat
(You can hear when the heart stops) I saved the pieces
(When it broke) And ground them all to dust
So…
(If you listen) Listen, listen
(Listen close) It dies beat by beat
(You can hear when the heart stops) I saved the pieces
(When it broke) And ground them all to dust

Day 6 - Handwrite your favourite song/song quote
This took the piss to write out but it’s beautiful so it doesn’t matter :)
It’s the Spoken Word inbetween Now the World and This Time Imperfect on AFI’s ‘Sing the Sorrow’ (or at least, the UK version of it). It’s weird because I hate poetry but this is a huge exception. I love it ridiculous amounts.

Artist: AFI
Album: Sing the Sorrow
Song: Silver and Cold
I… I came here by day, but I left here in darkness
And found you, found you on the way
And now, it is silver and silent, it is silver and cold
You, in somber resplendence, I hold
Your sins into me
Oh, my beautiful one
Your sins into me
As a rapturous voice escapes, I will tremble a prayer
And I’ll beg for forgiveness
(Your sins into me) Your sins into me
Oh, my beautiful one
Light, like the flutter of wings, feel your hollow voice rushing into me
As you’re longing to sing
So I… I will paint you in silver, I will wrap you in cold
I will lift up your voice as I sink
Your sins into me
Oh, my beautiful one, now
Your sins into me
As a rapturous voice escapes, I will tremble a prayer
And I’ll beg for forgiveness
(Your sins into me) Your sins into me
Cold in life’s throes, I’ll fall asleep for you
Cold in life’s throes, I only ask you turn away
Cold in life’s throes, I’ll fall asleep for you
Cold in life’s throes, I only ask you turn
As they seep… into me, oh, my beautiful one, now
Your sins into me
Oh, my beautiful one
Your sins into me
As a rapturous voice escapes, I will tremble a prayer
And I’ll beg for forgiveness
(Your sins into me)
Your sins into me… oh
Your sins into me
Oh, my beautiful one, now
Your sins into me
As a rapturous voice escapes, I will tremble a prayer
And I’ll beg for forgiveness
(Your sins into me) Your sins into…
(Your sins into me) Your sins into me
Oh, my beautiful one
My most favorite AFI song…

When I was in the hospital I slept with headphones and this on repeat. My favorite album of any artist and brilliantly produced to make one long symphony you can listen to played through over and over without any jarring disconnect between songs. ~Misery

AFI - The Leaving Song
Walked away, heard them say
“Poison hearts will never change,”
walk away again.
Turned away in disgrace,
felt the chill upon my face cooling from within.
Hard to notice gleaming from the sky,
when you’re staring at the cracks.
Hard to notice what is passing by with eyes lowered.
You… walked away, heard them say
“Poison hearts will never change,”
walk away again.
All the cracks, they lead right to me,
and all the cracks will crawl right through me.
All the cracks, they lead right to me,
and all the cracks will crawl right through me, and I fell apart.
As I… walked away, heard them say
“Poison hearts will never change,”
walk away again,
Turned away in disgrace,
felt the chill upon my face cooling from within

Kay, as some of you may know, my mother passed away three months ago. Well since then, I’ve been in kind of a depression roller coaster. There are days when I’m like totally normal and shit, then BAM, I’ll be depressed all over again. Well, I was in the depression part of my emotional ride and it didn’t help that I moved 8 hours away to go to college in Northern California. I moved away from everything, my family, my friends, and of course, my memories of home. So I was not only feeling incredibly sad because of my mom, I was feeling home sick.
Anyways, my super duper awesome roommate, Lea, invited me to go the AFI/Green Day show at Shoreline and I almost said no because I honestly didn’t feel like being surrounded by a shit ton of people. I was also thinking of doing something to harm myself that night when I was alone. Fortunately, I said yes and drove like 2.5 hours with her to the show. We met up with one of her Green Day friends and they ended up giving me a free ticket to the show. He was the sweetest man ever for doing that, so I’m like forever grateful. <3
So, we’re inside the gates now, and we’re walking around. Lea noticed that there was this huge crowd in front of Live 105’s booth, so we head over and that’s when I see Davey in person in his adorable red suit.

AFI - Girl’s Not Grey
I’ll lay me down tonight
Much further down
Swim in the calm tonight
This art does drown
(What follows) me as the whitest lace of light
(Will swallow whole) just begs to be imbrued?
(What follows) has led me to this place
where I belong, with all erased
What follows
